Christmas LightsOne American tradition that, within the last decade or so, has really taken off in the UK is the tradition of decorating one's house with lights. This is especially true where Mark's parents live. Hopefully, I'll have a few good pictures to show you after our visit this Christmas. To whet your appetite, this is a picture of a house in North Raleigh.

Christmas VacationHowever, this cannot compare to the famous lights in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. I've also embedded a Christmas light show that was on YouTube. It's not new, but it is good and very Christmassy.

Even in Scotland, they have succumbed to lights outside. When I first met Gordon in the early 80's (81) and made my first visit north, it was a novelty to even see a Christmas tree in the window. If there was one, it was hidden away.
London is a great place at Christmas. I was brought up in London, Westminster and Paddington, so have wonderful memories of the Christmas lights down Regent Street and Oxford Street plus the Christmas tree with carol singers at Trafalgar Square.
Hope you have a good trip home, wish we could make more regular trips home but 18 hours to just get there, tends to dampen the desire and then the price of the tickets.
