New Favicon

I've added a favicon to the blog, courtesy of Favicon.co.uk. I hope you like it.

once again demonstrating my ignorance, what is a favicon?

A favicon is a little icon that appears in the browser's address bar, just before the webpage's address.

If you look in your browser's address bar, just before it says "http://...", there's a little picture (in my case it's a Union Flag). That's a favicon.

Thanks for telling me this Jacqui. I tend to use Firefox, so didn't spot this.

A bit of checking and googling later, and it seems that it works fine in Internet Explorer 7, but not in ie6. From what I can make out from discussion groups, I think that this seems to be because ie6 is a bit fussy about where one puts the favicon image. It has to be in the root directory, or it doesn't work.

I'm not sure if I can do this in Blogger, but I'll look into it. Meanwhile, just try to imagine a Union Flag where the Internet Explorer symbol is.
